Lolita Dress Pattern 1:

Directions:
  • after cutting out all the pattern pieces according to their respective measurements (shown above), sew the sides of the skirt to the front center piece (side 1 should be on the right, side 2 should be on the left).
  • next, sew the bust sides to two of the skirt bottom pieces (sew them together along the bottom). this should create two new long pieces. sew these two pieces to either side of the front of the dress created in step one.
  • you have now created the front of the dress. set this aside for now, and start to work on the back. sew the two back side pieces to either side of the top of the back center piece (sew the back side pieces along their longer, vertical edge). this creates the shoulder.
  • now, sew two adjacent sides of the remaining skirt bottom pieces to the adjacent sides left by step three on the back. after this step is completed, you have now created the back of the dress.
  • now, cut an appropriate length of elastic so that when stretched, it fits comfortably over your shoulder. cut another length of elastic this size, and you should not have two pieces of elastic. sew the elastic to the non-curvy edge of the sleeve strap pieces, stretching the elastic out while sewing. this should create a bunched up effect. set aside the sleeves.
  • sew the front and back pieces of the dress together along their sides. make sure not to sew them together in the armhole area.
  • sew the shorter edges of the sleeve straps to the front and back of the dress, and you're done! now you're free to adorn your new dress with lace however you wish (the model above shows how i chose to decorate my dress. I'll post pictures of it later).

Lolita Headpiece: ok, here's a tutorial that I made yesterday for a lolita headpiece :)

  • Step 1: Cut out your oval-like pieces of fabric (make sure there's two of them!!)

  • Step 2: Begin to lay out your ribbon that will show in a criss-cross pattern on the top of your headpiece. Lay down the first layer as shown.

  • Step 3: Essentially repeat step two, laying down the pieces of ribbon, except going to other way (as shown)

  • Step 4: Pin down the ribbon pieces to the fabric, careful not to move them in the process.

  • Step 5: Take the second piece of fabric, and pin down lace to the edges. NOTE: make sure that the lace is facing inwards, as shown.

  • Step 6: Lay the two pieces of fabric, one on top of the other. Make sure that the right sides are together.

  • Step 7: Sew the two pieces of fabric together. Be careful not to hit any of the pins along the way--we don't want any broken needles!!Make sure to leave an opening (in other words, don't sew the entire way around. Leave a hole, this will be used to flip the headpiece right side out).

  • Step 8: Flip the headpiece right side out through the hole left open during step 7.Carefully remove all the pins in the process--otherwise, it might really hurt!!

  • Step 9: Sew up the hole, tucking the fabric edges on the inside.

  • Step 10: You should end up with something looking remotely like this...Now, cut two lengths of ribbon and sew to the sides of the headpiece on the back...

...And you're done!!! Wear your new headpiece with pride :)

Threadbanger/ CutoutandKeep

I just set up a Threadbanger account for myself. I've been following TB for a really long time, but have only just now made an account. If anyone can tell me how to create posts withing the forums, that would be much appreciated, because I cant figure it out!! :(

Threadbanger is also a great place to find other tutorials, specifically lolita how-to's and projects that other people have made. If you haven't heard of it before, I strongly suggest you check it out--its a great resource!

Also, if anyone is interested, I have a CO+K account here. Some of my non-loli related projects are up there (like cakes I've tried to make, etc. etc.).

Herro!

Hey All,

The blog is being relative slow to start--sorry about that. But it's coming, I promise!! The main reason why I'm creating this blog is because I'm tired of having to pay high prices for Lolita clothing, and wish to design/ create some of my own to save me a bit of money (and also because sewing is fun, of course!). I imagine that I'm not the only one who's tired of paying high prices on jsk's, so hopefully this blog will help some of you too. Of course, if you have some money to burn, I just got the shop links up. I find that ebay is also a really good place to buy--provided that you know how to make a little bit of cash go a long way :)

Setting Up!!

Hello!

I'm still working on setting up the blog, and I'm not used to making blogs so this may take a while. This post is sort of a test for me to figure out how posts work--if anyone can help me figure out how to get links to pages within your blog, please let me know!!

Gracias,
SewLoli
